Auditions & More

We are committed to creating professional-quality, community-minded theatre that is both artistically rigorous and welcoming. We prioritize adult, skilled performers from all backgrounds and look for collaborators who arrive prepared, ready to contribute, and committed to a respectful, supportive process.

Casting is guided by a detailed policy shared with our creative teams which outlines inclusive practices, awareness of bias, and openness to fresh talent. Every audition is also an opportunity to build relationships and connect with our community (even if you’re not cast right away) and we strive to ensure that every person who auditions is met with care and thoughtful, fair consideration.

Our Casting Philosophy

Casting Call

You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (June 2026)

Directed by Allan MacAskill & Shane Southcott

Constellation Theatre Co. invites performers to audition for our inaugural musical.

We welcome adult actors and singers from all backgrounds, including both emerging and experienced artists and those new to North Bay.

This is a non-equity production.  As a co-operative, our members share in the success of the show.

Key Dates

  • Self-Tape Submission Window: March 25–29
  • Optional In-Person Auditions: Saturday, March 28
  • In-Person Callbacks (if required): April 8
  • Tech & Dress: June 16, 17, 18
  • Performance Dates: June 19 (Preview), 20, 21 (Matinee), 25, 26, 27.

Rehearsal Process & Commitment

Constellation Theatre Co. aims to create elevated, semi-professional theatre experiences for artists and audiences. This approach relies on clear communication, thoughtful scheduling, and meaningful preparation from everyone involved.

Performers should expect to learn a significant portion of their material independently through the month of April. (Rehearsal tracks and resources will be provided, along with 1–2 rehearsals focused on group harmonies and optional opportunities for 1:1 support.) This allows us to make the best use of everyone’s time in the room.

To support effective scheduling, performers are asked to submit their availability and known commitments through the audition form. Rehearsals will be scheduled based on cast availability, generally as follows:

  • April: 1–3 rehearsals for harmonies and a full-cast read-through
  • Early–mid May: Weekly 4–6 hour rehearsal, plus smaller rehearsals based on scene work and availability
  • Late May–June: Twice-weekly 4–6 hour full-cast rehearsals
  • June 14 onward: Cast members are expected to be available for technical and dress rehearsals (tentatively June 16–18) and all performances, beginning with an industry preview on June 19.

If you have conflicts outside of performance dates or have needs to be accommodated (ie: shift work or long commutes to rehearsal), we still encourage you to audition and share the details. The more notice we have, the better we can plan.

How to Audition

We encourage self-tape auditions for all actors who are comfortable self-taping.  For those who prefer an in-person audition, we have one day of in-person auditions which will be filmed. If required, callbacks will take place the evening of April 8th.

Live auditions will be in-person with Allan MacAskill and our stage manager.
Footage from both self-tapes and live auditions will be reviewed by Allan MacAskill, Shane Southcott, and Music Director Chris Mogan and is used for casting purposes only, unless otherwise agreed upon with performers.

Please review the instructions for each option below:

Self-Tape Submissions

Self-tapes may be submitted between March 25–29.

Step 1 – Record Your Video
Your video should include:

• A brief introduction (name and where you’re from, anything you’d like to share to help us get to know you.)
• One song of your choice

The directors welcome you to sing a song from the show, though we strongly encourage you to choose material that showcases you well and that you feel comfortable performing.

We recommend using an instrumental or karaoke backing track. You may also sing a cappella.

Step 2 – Upload Your Video
Before uploading, review your video to ensure it is complete.

Upload your video somewhere private but shareable, such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or an un-listed Youtube Video.

Make sure anyone with the link can view the video.

Step 3 – Submit the Audition Form
Once your video is uploaded, complete the audition form and paste the sharing link to your video before submitting.
