New artist-led co-operative aims to create opportunities for adult performers while strengthening the local theatre community
NORTH BAY, ON — March 20, 2026 — A new musical theatre co-operative is launching in North Bay with a focus on adult performers, community-building, and a collaborative model. Constellation Theatre Co., founded in 2025, has announced auditions for its first production, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, running June 19–27, 2026.
Auditions will take place March 25–29 and are open to adult performers from North Bay and the surrounding region. The production will be staged at École secondaire publique Odyssée (480 Norman Ave, North Bay).
Constellation Theatre Co. operates as a worker co-operative with a non-profit mindset, and a goal of creating a sustainable and community-oriented home for musical theatre artists. The organization aims to complement North Bay’s existing arts landscape by focusing specifically on opportunities for adult performers to continue developing their craft beyond youth and school-based programs.
The co-operative has been developed over the past year by a founding board of directors with a special connection to North Bay, including Emily O’Kane, Emily Hawton, Roxey Size, Lisa Callahan, Andrew Butti, and Tim Lucier, who have helped shape its structure and early direction.
“North Bay has an incredibly rich arts and theatre landscape that has trained many young performers,” said board President Tim Lucier. “But once those artists grow up, there’s a noticeable gap in musical theatre opportunities. We’re looking to help fill that — to create space for continued growth, practice, and performance for adults, while building a strong, connected community around that work. Our hope is that this contributes to North Bay becoming an even more appealing place for artists to live and stay.”
The first production will be co-directed by Allan MacAskill and Shane Southcott, with music direction by Chris Mogan, all well-known within the North Bay theatre community. You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a family-friendly musical based on the beloved Charles Schulz characters and marks the co-operative’s inaugural season.
In addition to auditions, Constellation Theatre Co. has begun building community by launching a Musical Theatre Karaoke Night on March 26 at 7:30 p.m., co-hosted at Crossroads Convenience (348 Algonquin Ave, North Bay). The free event is open to the public and aims to bring together performers and theatre enthusiasts in an informal, welcoming setting.
“Why now?” added Lucier. “Because this was a need I felt for myself. Now that I call North Bay home, it felt important to help create it — and trust that other performers are looking for the same kind of space to gather, grow, and perform.”
