Join the Creative Team of Constellation Theatre Co.’s Inaugural Semi-Pro Musical
Constellation Theatre Co. is North Bay’s new artist-led co-operative dedicated to creating opportunities for adult performers and creatives to shine through high-quality musical theatre. Every artist on stage, in the band, and behind the scenes is also an owner of the co-op. That means you don’t just contribute to a production—you help shape the future of musical theatre in our community and share in its success.
We are preparing to launch our first spring musical in 2026 and are seeking passionate, collaborative, and professional-minded individuals to join the creative team:
Available Creative Roles
Director
Brings artistic vision and leadership to the production, working with the Board and creative team to realize the show. Responsibilities include casting (through an open and inclusive process), shaping strategic rehearsals, and guiding the overall vision and cohesion of the production.
Compensation: Surplus distribution share with a guaranteed minimum honorarium of $750.
Musical Director
Guides vocal and instrumental preparation (with skilled vocalists & musicians who learn independently), coordinates with the band, and collaborates with the Director to bring the score to life.
Compensation: Surplus distribution share.
Stage Manager
Organizes and runs rehearsals, maintains communication between the team, cast, and crew, and ensures smooth technical and performance runs.
Compensation: Surplus distribution share.
Designer Roles (Props, Set, Costuming)
We’re seeking creative makers to collaborate with the Director’s vision in designing and sourcing props, costumes, and a set.
Compensation: Surplus distribution share.
Timelines
To be fully transparent: there are a lot of moving pieces in getting a new theatre company off the ground! We’re actively securing performance rights, rehearsal space, and additional funding.
Our target is a Spring 2026 run of ~4 performances (exact dates TBD), using a strategic rehearsal schedule designed to respect everyone’s time.
Financial Exchange
Our co-operative aims to create reciprocal relationships where artists feel both engaged and valued for their contributions. Constellation Theatre Co. operates on a cooperative, profit-sharing model:
To accomplish this, all members of the creative team, crew, and all performers become Artist-Members of Constellation Theatre Co:
- All creative team members, performers, and crew become Artist-Members of the co-op.
- Artist-Members hold one Class A Membership Share (par value $15, one-time only) and may vote and run for vacancies on the Board of Directors.
- 40% of surplus funds from each production are distributed to participating Artist-Members, weighted by role (established in advance through contracts).
- The remaining 60% is reinvested to build future productions.
- Key roles may defer their share purchase until after production, with the $15 deducted from their distribution.
For this inaugural production, the Director will receive either their surplus share or a minimum honorarium of $750 (whichever is greater), recognizing the significant time and vision the role demands.
Why Join Us?
- Be part of something new: help build North Bay’s home for adult musical theatre.
- Join a cooperative: your voice matters in artistic and organizational decisions. In addition, there are vacancies available on our board that we hope to fill with performers and creative team members from our first production.
- Professional-minded environment: focused, strategic rehearsals that respect your time.
- Community connection: collaborate with passionate local artists and audiences.
