Call for Directors & Creatives
Constellation Theatre Co-operative is now accepting proposals from directors interested in helping shape our 2027 and 2028 seasons.
Following our inaugural production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, we’re looking ahead to what comes next — and seeking directors with exciting ideas for small-cast shows that can showcase the incredible musical theatre talent within North Bay and help our musical theatre community to grow.

Core Production
For our first few seasons, we are hoping to anchor ourselves with one main musical theatre production each spring.
Our focus is on small musicals featuring primarily adult casts that we can produce well, with care. As a new organization selecting our second and third main productions, we’re prioritizing works that:
- Show audiences another side of Constellation. We want to demonstrate range and avoid defining ourselves too narrowly by our first production. This can mean:
- A show with older characters (our first cast was mainly in their 20’s & 30’s)
- A thematic or tonal shift (our first show was a family-friendly, childhood comedy)
- Are compelling for both audiences and performers. This can mean:
- Recognizable shows or writers that people will be excited to see.
- Musicals that bring new and fresh stories to North Bay, different in scope or delivery from what our community has seen in the past.
- Shine at a smaller scale. Our focus for now is on smaller-cast shows, allowing for strong performances and thoughtful design.
More than anything, we want to hear why you think this is a show Constellation should produce — and what you would do with it.
Who We’re Looking For
For our main productions in 2027 and beyond, we are seeking directors who:
- Have a strong artistic vision for the production and a practical understanding of how to bring that vision to the stage.
- Are strong communicators and planners who create a welcoming, respectful environment for collaboration.
- Are prepared to work within an ambitious production process with high expectations for preparation, communication and the quality of the finished work.

Opportunities for Emerging Directors
Not ready to propose a full-scale musical? We are exploring ways to expand our programming and provide creative volunteer opportunities for up-and-coming leaders to build their experience.
We welcome interest and proposals for:
- Winter Market Performances — curating and directing a small selection of singers and holiday repertoire for upcoming community performances.
- Micro-Musicals — directing a production under one hour that Constellation Theatre Co. can present if selected by lottery for On the Edge Fringe.
- Shakespeare in the Park — directing & coordinating an outdoor Shakespeare project for summer 2027 or 2028 (possibly with the incorporation of music).
- Musical Murder Mysteries — directing & coordinating a murder mystery experience featuring live vocal performances.
These projects offer an opportunity to bring an idea to life on a smaller scale and can be a great way for emerging directors to develop experience and show us what you can do.
